CentreFest on Ross Street!
Since 2003, the downtown street performers festival, CentreFest, has been held in the heart of the downtown core on Ross Street and Gaetz Avenue. This year, the downtown street performers festival will take place July 30 and 31 on Ross Street and 49 Avenue.
The Gaetz Avenue Revitalization project scheduled to begin soon will be ongoing till later this summer. The construction along Gaetz Avenue, from 51st Street to 48th Street, means the traditional site is unavailable.
CentreFest organizers had been working with The City of Red Deer to determine the best possible alternative site and had reported last month that the festival would move to 48th Street between 47th Avenue and 48th Avenue, adjacent to the Recreation Centre and Rotary Recreation Park.
“The downtown core is home to CentreFest. We are pleased to announce that we have come to a workable solution with The City and that the festival is moving back to Ross Street,” say organizers.
CentreFest will begin with the ATCO Gas Kick-Off BBQ in City Hall Park at Noon on Friday. The festival will take place on Ross Street from City Hall to Veterans’ Park and along 49 Avenue on Saturday from Noon to 8pm and Sunday, Noon to 6pm.
